AutoTest® Digital Sound Level Meter

AutoTest® Digital Sound Level Meter

It is used to measure and monitor noise levels to ensure that volume levels are within tolerances or an expected range in any industrial or domestic application. This sound and vibration tool is commonly used to test automotive exhausts volume in road worthy checks carried out by an Approved Inspection Station (AIS). A sound level meter can also be used to monitor sound levels within workplaces, such as factories and plants and ensure that employees are guided to wear hearing protection when excessive noise levels are present. It is also commonly used on construction sites when commercial machinery such as excavators and bulldozers are used.  Other uses include road noise studies for setting up sound breaks along freeways and for ensuring concerts and public events maintain an acceptable volume within local regulations. Sensitivity can be adjusted for different ambient conditions and environments.

Operation Directions:

  1.  Turn on power.
  2. Select desired response and weighting, also select desired range.
  3. If weighting for general noise sound level, please select dBA.
  4. If the sound source consists of short bursts, set response to FAST. To measure average sound level, use the SLOW setting.
  5. When MAX mode is chosen, the instrument will capture and hold the maximum noise level.
